The Railway Hotel is the third oldest hotel in Peterborough, having been built in 1891, opening on the 24th December. W Britten, Licensee. The building was described at the time as palatial, with the Copula Tower on the roof being a feature. The hotel has played host to Governors and high ranking officials during its 125 year history. In 1949 a murder/suicide in the hotel was big news at the time.

We stopped in at the Railway Hotel for lunch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the hotel had a nice atmosphere. We both decided to have the roast of the day and a beer. It was $18 but you were also able to...More
If in Peterborough, try this Old World Hotel for dinner. Very nice Country style pub with great food
We visited this hotel for dinner during our stay in Peterborough. The food was over priced & of poor quality. We expected a great country pub meal, but was dissatisfied . We even spoke to local people who had been there the same night as...More
We all enjoyed our meals here mid week at lunch time on a very damp day in September. The food was really of good quality, well prepared and presented. We'd do it again in a heart beat!
Under the old owners the menu was 3 pages so you had a large selection to choose from but we now have a new owner so the menu is now you can say is on one page . That’s fine but if you reduce the...More
We enjoyed a lovely meal in pleasant surrounds with pleasant friendly staff. Happy to recommend this hotel for meals.
We only ate there, but went back a second time. Good solid pub food with a comfortable laidback service attitude. The food was fairly priced, well cooked and delivered quickly enough. Serve size would be enough for the hungriest person. Clearly a community place with...More
We had been advised by caravan park owner(also owns the pub!) to eat here. Wednesday night was Roast night. For $18 we had a 30cm square dinner plate with roast beef, roast potatoes, roast pumpkin, cauliflower bake, potato bake, assorted frozen vegetables, sweetcorn and a...More
Proper pub with better than average pub food. Steak cooked as requested with good chips and fresh salad. My wife ate the chicken schnitzel which was good. Worth the stop.
Stopped here overnight. Was given a tip to eat at the hotel. We both had chicken schnitzel with salad bar. The best meal we have had in a very long time. Great service and food was amazing.
Schnitzel with green peppercorn sauce was one of the best I’ve had. Panko crumb shinty, plus a supreme pizza came in at $36, extremely good value! Ambience is old school charm. Nice bar staff too
While not the cheapest in Town, the Railway puts on a great feed & the lunch specials are better then adequate and the beers still cold & plenty !
Hubby says it was the best Parmie he has every had, My TBone was great and the salad bar was real salad not just cucumbers and tomato it even had boiled eggs omg haven't seen that in a pub for years The young girl serving...More
Recently used Peterborough as a pit stop on our way to the Flinders Ranges, headed for the Railway Hotel for a traditional Country Pub Counter meal…and that is exactly what we got…the classic prawn cocktails were nostalgically unchanged since the 1970's..6 prawns arranged around the...More
Had a few meals here now from snitzels to home made pie everything I’ve had has been really good and you can even get a decent coffee here as well which seems to be a bit of a struggle in the country
We had a lunch meal at this hotel. It was chicken schnitzel day, so thats what we had. (A parma in my case, I do love a good parma). It was fortunate that I was hungry because it was possibly the biggest parma I have...More
